Guelph United Football Club is part of Ontario’s highest-level pro-am league, League1 Ontario (3rd division of soccer in Canada). Our women’s team plays in League1 Ontario’s top-tier Premier Division, while the men’s team plays in the second-tier Championship Division.

League1 Ontario is the province of Ontario’s pro-am, standards-based, senior league. Founded in 2014, the league began with a ten-team men’s division, which has now grown to 24 teams in the men’s division and 20 in the women’s, organized in 3 tiers (Premier, Championship and League2), with promotion and relegation between them.

The league is owned and managed by CSB (Canadian Soccer Business), and is sanctioned by FIFA through the domestic bodies of Canada Soccer and Ontario Soccer. Together with League1 Quebec, League1 BC and League1 Alberta, it currently sits at the third tier of the Canadian soccer pyramid, with CPL (Canadian Premier League) at the first tier, and no current second tier leagues. League1 Ontario serves as a stepping stone between the high-performance youth level and the professional levels of the game.
