Guelph United split games over the weekend
The 0-2 loss for the Union against the defending champions NDC was not reflective of a very hard fought, tight game, but a couple of avoidable and disappointing goals to concede, one after just 3 minutes and the second just before the final whistle, saw another loss for the local ladies. The Union will take some comfort from the performance but will be looking to bounce back with a win in their next home game.
Guelph United men played Unionville on the road, and had a comfortable 4-0 victory, with striker Milan Beader getting the first of the night and his second of the young season. A second goal in the opening 25 minutes by John Greenhough, scoring his first ever United goal, gave the locals a comfortable half time lead. Second half goals were scored by Jared Agyemang and rookie Anthony Ostrun, also scoring his first ever goal with his first touch of the game after coming on as a 75th minute substitute.
Next game for the two teams will be a double header and home opener at United's new home field Centennial Bowl. The games will take place on Tuesday May 23, with the women playing at 7 pm vs Unionville, followed by the men at 9 pm vs North Toronto Nitros.
