The Final Match

November 5th, 2021 – Guelph, ON. - After a long-fought season, Guelph United FC won the semi-final match of playoffs this past Saturday, October 30th against Masters FA. The boys are now heading into final to face off against rival team, Blue Devil FC. This match is not one to be missed as GUFC are determined to win the league. The final match is scheduled for 4 pm this Sunday, November 7th, at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Woodbridge, ON.

When asked about the semi-finals, MVP of the match and goalkeeper, Svyatik Artemenko (#1),  exclaimed “It was a hard fought battle. After going down a goal we didn’t give up and fought hard to equalize the game. When we went into shootout, I was confident that we would win. After such a long shootout we couldn’t afford to lose it and we gave it our all.”. He continued on to say “It was a great feeling to have scored my penalty and then to save the last one, winning the goalkeepers battle. Now we need to focus on the finals and put everything on the line Sunday. It would be quite the story to have a team playing its first season in League 1 Ontario winning the league. It all depends on us.”

Winning the finals would mean the boys would have the possibility to be entered in the Canadian Championship Cup in 2022, if they succeed in gaining the 2021 title. The Canadian Championship is the highest domestic club competition in Canada This allows for the possibility for a new team to play against the Canadian Premier League teams. The pressure is on for the #UnitedFront.

Be sure to come on out and celebrate pro-am soccer in as the Royal City heads to the championship against the Blue Devils FC to create history. Kick off is scheduled for 4pm Sunday, November 7th, at the Ontario Soccer Centre, 7601 Martin Grove Rd, Woodbridge, ON. Join the #UnitedFront for their biggest battle this season.
