Canada Day weekend treat: both our teams featured in Match of the Week
What a Canada Day long weekend we have coming up!
Both our men’s and women’s teams are playing in hugely important away games, and both of them have been announced by League1 Ontario as “Match of the Week”. This means you can spend your Saturday and Sunday watching Guelph United and Guelph Union on YouTube, in the official streams provided by League1 Ontario.
Our men’s team is heading to the Ontario Soccer Centre, and will be facing league leaders Scrosoppi FC.
Guelph United is currently in 3rd place, but tied in points with Scrosoppi. This heavyweight encounter will have huge repercussions on the regular season standings, given that the top 10 teams in the league are separated by only 6 points.
The match will take place on Saturday July 1st, at 6 PM, and can be watched live on YouTube here.
Our women’s team is also away from home, heading to Vaughan Grove Turf to meet Woodbridge Strikers.
The Union is 12th in the standings, 4 points behind the playoff spots with 5 matches left, so this meeting with one of the teams above the line (Woodbridge currently sits in 5th place) will be extremely important in the playoff race.
