Double Delight for Guelph United FC

Centennial Bowl is becoming a fortress for Guelph United in 2023. In another exciting double header on Sunday, the men’s and women’s teams won another two games, and are now 4 for 4 at our new home.

The day started with a 3-0 win by the women as they hosted 5th place BVB IA Waterloo. Victoria Hinchcliffe opened the scoring with a header in the 8th minute of the game, and Lauren Bruce made it two in the 19th minute to see United have a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead. The second half saw a dominant performance from our team, with Hinchcliffe finishing the scoring with her second and the team’s third to make it 2 wins in 2 at the Bowl. Elizabeth Brenneman secured the shut out in net for Guelph.

The men's team had a slow start against Waterloo and found themselves a goal down early in the match but fought back to end the half 2-2 with goals from Damian Truong and Camilo Vasconcelos. The 2nd half was a different story with a dominant display by Guelph that led to 4 unanswered goals to give United a 6-2 win. Jared Agymeang scored 2, Leo Shrimpton added 1, and a second goal of the game by Vasconcelos rounded off a fine second half display in front of a big home crowd.

The Baker Street Bistro players of the game were Victoria Hinchcliffe and Camilo Vasconcelos with both players scoring a double.

Next up for the ladies is an away game at Darby FC this Wednesday, followed by a home game on Wednesday June 7 at the Bowl vs Oakville Blue Devils (8 pm). The men have a road game on Friday vs North Mississauga, with the next home game on Sunday June 11 at the Bowl, 5:30 pm against St. Catherine’s Roma Wolves.
