Father’s Day doubleheader at the Centennial Bowl
What a Sunday we have planned for you!
Not only we have another doubleheader on tap, with the men playing at 3 PM and the women at 5.30 PM.
And not only Guelph United is facing current champions Vaughan Azzurri, in one of the most important matches of the regular season that might have huge implications in the playoff fight.
But we also have Father’s Day deals! If you’re a dad, your ticket will be $5. And for everyone, t-shirts are on sale for $10. Both offers are valid at the stadium only.
After last night’s 0-2 defeat at Sigma FC, the men’s team is coming back home for a blockbuster of a matchup against Vaughan Azzurri, who is one of the two remaining undefeated teams for the season, and in search of their second consecutive title. With 11 teams separated by just 5 points at the top of a crazy close League1 Ontario standings, and with Vaughan 2 points ahead of Guelph, this one will have huge ramifications on the final standings.
“Vaughan is a team that is very well organized, very well coached, and have an incredible player pool and talent among their roster. This will certainly be a well fought match and we are excited for the upcoming challenge. This has the makings to be an incredibly exciting match and we are looking forward to the opportunity to showcase ourselves”
- Justin Springer, Guelph United head coach.
Afterwards, Guelph Union will be looking to get back on track against St. Catharines Roma Wolves. A series of poor results in spite of good performances see our ladies currently 14th in the league, but, with only 4 points behind the playoff spots, there is still time to turn the season around. And what better way to start a streak than against a team that has also struggled early in the season, and is also at 10 points in the standings.
On top of the deals mentioned above, there is one more new thing you can expect this Sunday at the Centennial Bowl. The City of Guelph will be on site with the Water Wagon, and the “Bring, Fill, Drink” campaign. Fans are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to the stadium, and refill them for free at the wagon.
This matchday, we will have guests from FEDS, the Fergus and Elora District Soccer, who will be providing the ball boys and girls. Every FEDS players wearing their game shirts will have free access to the two matches.
