Guelph United remains snake-bitten when it comes to scoring at home as they lose 3 - 0 to Milton’s Scrosoppi in front of a large crowd on Sunday evening.

The match started off promising for Guelph United despite their injury-depleted roster. The first 45 minutes saw multiple chances for the home team’s offence and a strong showing by Guelph’s defense, led by Amardo Oakley and Svyatik Artemenko. However, the boys were unable to capitalize on their chances and it would cost them later in the match.

The teams entered the second half even at 0 - 0, but Scrosoppi took the upper hand as they broke the stalemate in the 60th minute thanks to a goal from Jevonte Layne. The opening goal was followed up by another from Layne three minutes later, putting the visitors up 2 - 0. Despite a strong effort from Guelph, Layne completed his hat trick to solidify Scrosoppi’s victory against the reigning champions.

With Guelph United now out of a playoff spot in the League1 men’s premier standings and only 10 games remaining, the team will need to find a way to start scoring at home. Of Guelph United’s 20 goals so far this season, only 6 have come on their home turf at Alumni Stadium.

Guelph United's next match will see them heading down Highway 6 to face the offensive powerhouse Hamilton United (8-4-1) on Saturday, July 9th.
