July 14, 2022, Guelph, ON – A hat trick by Jared Agyemang secures Guelph United FC the win over Simcoe County Rovers on Wednesday night.

After a decisive 4 - 0 win over Hamilton United on Saturday, Guelph United carried that momentum forward into their game against league newcomers Simcoe County Rovers last night at Alumni Stadium. The exciting match saw Guelph player Jared Agyemang score his first hat trick in League1 Ontario to lift the home team to a 3 - 0 victory over the visitors.

The first 30 minutes saw both teams testing out each other’s defenses with a couple of great chances for both teams being foiled by strong defensive plays. Guelph would finally break through Simcoe’s defensive line in the 37th minute courtesy of a header from Agyemang which snuck past Simcoe’s goalkeeper Richard Gomes.

The second half began quickly with both teams pressing hard. Agyemang's second of the night came 15 minutes into the second half as he used some great footwork to sidestep a Simcoe defender and blast the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. His third and final goal came off a penalty kick after Camilo Vasconcelos was taken down by Simcoe defender Justin Earle in the box. Agyemang made no mistake on the shot and earned himself a hat trick for his efforts.

Other standout players of the match include Guelph’s defense, including Amardo Oakley, Luke Rankin, and Ryan Ko, who along with goalkeeper Carter Robart, kept the visiting team off the scoreboard for the entire game.

Guelph United is now 8 - 3 - 3 on the season and is right in the battle for one of the six coveted play-off spots. Their next match will see them back at home on Sunday, July 17th as they face off against Burlington SC in their 15th match of the season.
