Guelph United signs defender Peyton Ferdinand

Guelph United has signed Canadian defender Peyton Ferdinand to a contract for the 2024 season.

Peyton, a native of Ottawa, ON, has played since 2019 for his hometown League1 club, Ottawa South United, initially in League1 Ontario, before the team’s switch to League1 Québec.

In the meantime, in the last 3 U Sports seasons, he played for the Guelph Gryphons, becoming a staple of the defense. In this last season, he appeared in all 12 matches for the Gryphons, starting 11.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of Peyton Ferdinand!  The dynamic fullback brings many attributes and profiles into the team and I strongly believe that he will not only fit in but find success among our current group. His athleticism, understanding of the game, defensive capabilities and attacking tendencies will bring excitement and creativity into our play this season.  We are excited to welcome him into our group”, says Justin Springer, GUFC’s head coach.

I am very excited to be signing as a player for Guelph United for the upcoming 2024 season. After playing in Ligue1 Québec over the past few years, League1 Ontario will be a new challenge for me and there is no other team in this league that I would rather compete with and fight for than Guelph United. I am looking forward to continuing the good relationships I already have with the amazing coaching staff and many of the current players and I believe that this new environment will allow me to grow as a player and help the team succeed!
