October 1st, 2021, Guelph, ON - This Saturday, October 2nd, your Guelph United FC (6-0-1) are back home after a 5-week road trip around Southern Ontario to take on their fifth-place opponents Scrosoppi FC (3-2-2). With kick off scheduled for 1:00pm at the University of Guelph’s Alumni Stadium, Guelph United is looking to redeem themselves after a devastating 3-1 loss last week to FC London. That defeat not only marked the #UnitedFront’s first loss of the season, but it also dropped them down to second in the League1 Ontario’s West division.

When asked about last week’s loss, fan-favourite defender Amardo Oakley (#4) stated that “[a] true test of character isn’t how you are on your best days but how you act on your worst days and I’m pound to say the boys kept their heads held high after out defeat to London this past Friday. Spirits are high and the training sessions have been good with a lot of quality. We are determined to bounce back this Saturday at home”.

A win this game could raise the Guelph side’s spirits even more as those three points would bring GUFC back in to first place, ahead of the current top seeded Oakville Blue Devils (6-1-1). The visitors on Saturday, Scrosoppi FC, are clinging on to their hopes of heading to playoffs this season as they to win every one of their remaining games this season to stay in contention. The last meeting between the Guelph- and Milton-based sides saw high tensions, a final score of 1- 0 for Guelph United. Saturday’s game is not one to miss as Scrosoppi hopes to deny a fellow inaugural season team a spot in the playoffs.

Can Scrosoppi deny Guelph the series sweep? Find out this Saturday, October 2nd, at 1pm at Alumni Stadium, 26 Lang Way, Guelph. Tickets can be purchased before the game at guelphunitedfc.ca/shop or on game day.
