Two big home games coming up for GUFC

What can be better for a football team and its fans, than to look forward to two huge home games coming up this Sunday and next, and to know we control our own playoff destiny.

Win both games, and we’re in. And if we get some external help, we might actually host the first round.

So, with Woodbridge Strikers visiting us this week and ProStars FC next, we have everything to play for, in front of our loyal fans.

We’ve been talking a lot about how close the playoff race has been in League1 Ontario, and it’s looking like it will go down to the wire, with 10 teams still technically alive for the 6 playoff spots.

After last weekend’s impressive win against Electric City FC, for us, the math is simple: win both remaining games, and we’re in, regardless of any other results. Even more: if we get some help, and Blue Devils does not win against Vaughan Azzurri, we will finish in 4th place and host the quarter final against the #5 seed.

There is also a chance we can clinch this Sunday. After Alliance lost last night, we also need North Toronto Nitros or Burlington to drop points this weekend, to be able to clinch with one game to go.

Either way, the next 2 weekends are shaping up to showcase, once again, exactly why we love this game. Hopefully you’ll be with us in our attempt to finish this season strong, and make it so next Sunday’s home match will not be the last one at the Centennial Bowl this season.
