Uniting in the Forest City: GUFC visits FC London

September 23, 2021 - Guelph, ON

This Friday, September 24th, your Guelphs United FC (6-0-0) boys are off to the Forest City to take on their third-place opponents, FC London (5-2-0). With kick off scheduled for 8:30pm at the Hellenic Community Centre in London, Guelph United is looking to see if they can take their season series versus FCL, with the latter taking the first game 6-0 back on July 30th. The game will also mark the first real challenge for Guelph’s first-place standing as their opponents sit at third in the League1 Ontario’s West division; a FCL win would bring both teams to 18 points, although Guelph would remain in first as they have a game in hand. Also on the line is Guelph United FC’s mission to maintain their season-long winning streak as it now turns to FC London to see if they can be the first team to end the #UnitedFront’s flawless season.

To defeat Guelph United, FC London will need to challenge Guelph’s Team Captain, Jace Kotsopoulos, the team’s and league’s top scorer with 11 goals this season. On top of needing a strong defence to stop Kotsopoulos, the FCL offence will need to be on their A Game if they are to break through Guelph United’s goalkeeper, Svyatik Artemenko, who has had the fewest goals allowed this season in the division with 6 goals against over 6 games. Will Artemenko be able to obtain another clean sheet this game? Find out tomorrow, September 24th, at 8pm at the Hellenic Community Centre in London!
