Guelph United and men’s head coach Justin Springer part ways by mutual agreement

Guelph United today announces that coach Justin Springer will not be returning to his role as men's first team Head Coach in 2025 for personal reasons. The decision is effective immediately.

Justin has been with the team since its inception. In the first season, in 2021, he was the associate-head coach together with current general manager Keith Mason, and also made 2 appearances as a player. Following an impressive season in which Guelph United FC won the League1 Ontario title, Justin and Keith won the League1 Ontario Coach of the Year award.

Justin became the sole head coach in 2023 when GM Keith Mason stepped down, and successfully guided the team to the playoffs before a quarter-final exit. Unfortunately, the 2024 season was a low point in his tenure, with the team finishing 11th in the L1O Premier Division, and relegating to the second-tier Championship following a play-off loss to St. Catherines Roma.

We would like to thank Justin for the contributions he has made to the development of the team over the past few years, both on and off the field. We are very pleased that he will remain coaching within our club in another capacity.
— General Manager Keith Mason

Guelph United will announce the new head coach in due time. Stay tuned to our website and social media for updates throughout the off-season.
