Guelph United signs goalkeeper Tristan Mitchell

Guelph United has reinforced its goalkeeping pool with the signing of Canadian-Jamaican goalkeeper Tristan Mitchell da Costa.

The 23 y.o. goalkeeper was born in Pickering, but is also holding a Jamaican citizenship, and he represented Jamaica internationally at the U23 level. He had an eventful club career, spending his junior years with the youth teams of Leyton Orient in England and St. Andrews FC in Malta, before signing his first professional contract, at 20 years old, with Corvo de Piedad in the Portuguese second division. From there, he ended up in the Spanish fourth tier, with Velez CF.

I am very excited to welcome Tristan into our environment. Tristan comes with an excellent playing pedigree, and provides a great deal of experience and leadership into the group. Looking forward not only to working alongside him but for the impact he will be able to make among our organization“, says Guelph United head coach Justin Springer about the new signing.

Tristan is available for selection this evening, in Guelph United’s L1 Cup quarter-final matchup against Simcoe County Rovers.

I’m very grateful that Guelph United has given me the opportunity to showcase my ability and I am looking forward to making a positive impact on the team!
