Keith Mason to be inducted into the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame
Guelph United’s co-founder, GM, and men’s head coach, Keith Mason, is one of five newest inductees into the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame.
The 2025 class was announced yesterday, and includes, alongside Keith, former MLB pitcher Scott Diamond, former basketball national team player James Gillingham, softball Olympian Angela Lichty-Crowther, and local rowing pioneer David Leger.
Keith began coaching with Guelph Soccer in 1981, quickly establishing himself as a leader in youth development. In 1989, he took over as head coach of the University of Guelph’s Women’s Soccer Team, leading them to two U Sport National appearances, a silver medal, and earning Ontario Coach of the Year honors in 1990. In 2000, he transitioned to the men’s program, guiding the Gryphons to two OUA Championships, a National Bronze medal, and earning multiple OUA and U Sport Coach of the Year awards.
Established in 1992 by the City of Guelph and the Kiwanis Club of Guelph, the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization that recognizes and honours the achievements of Guelph individuals and teams who have attained prominence and distinction in any field of sport, and who have made a major contribution to the development and advancement of sports in Guelph.
This year’s induction ceremony will take place at the Italian Canadian Club, on May 21st.
Congratulations, Keith, on this incredible accomplishment!
