Former Leeds United academy prospect Luke Harrop signs with GUFC

Guelph United is excited to announce our first signing of 2025: English centre-back Luke Harrop.

Born in Bingley, UK, Luke spent his youth years with the Leeds United academy, for which he played for 8 years, ending up as captain of their U16 team. At 16, he moved to the youth team of Bradford City, before crossing the pond to Canada.

Here, he first played for Capilano University in BC, and then transferred in 2023 to Algoma University in Ontario, for which he appeared in 18 U Sports games, scoring twice.

In addition to his university games, Luke signed in 2024 for League2 Ontario club Sudbury Cyclones, helping them promote to the League1 Championship, after appearing in 14 games and scoring 2 goals. At the end of the 2024 season, he was awarded the League2 Defender of the Year Award.

I’m excited to play for Guelph United, as it presents a new opportunity to challenge myself in achieving the best version of me. Looking forward to meeting new teammates and fans
