Supporters MVP Gray Yates is back for 2025; Ibie and Rioux promoted

Guelph United’s off-season signings are off to a flying start. Today, we’re excited to announce we’re bringing back one of the best midfielders in the league for another year, with the re-signing of Gray Yates, our 2024 GUFC Supporters MVP.

Guelph native Yates has been with GUFC since our inaugural season in 2021. He played 49 matches for our senior squad, and got selected as a League1 Ontario Premier Division second-team All Star at the end of the 2024 season.

“I'm so excited to re-sign with Guelph United. We're all focused on delivering results and taking the club to where it belongs, in the Premier Division. I can't wait to see all of our incredible supporters next year” - Gray Yates

Guelph United is also happy to announce we have promoted two of our key reserve team players to the senior squad, left back Jordan Rioux and striker Yuki Ibie.

Rioux signed with GUFC in 2023, and played 27 matches for our U19, U20 and Reserve squads. During the 2024 season, he was also called up on multiple occasions, and appeared in 7 games in the Premier Division.

Ibie had a fantastic 2024 season for our reserve team, scoring 9 goals in 12 matches. He was also called up and appeared in 10 matches for the senior squad, scoring once.
