Here are Guelph United’s rosters to begin the 2025 season

After a couple of L1 Cup games last week, it’s time for the league season to begin. With both our senior teams playing tomorrow, and the first of our reserve teams kicking off the very next day, here is how our rosters look as we head into the 2025 season.

GUFC Men registered 20 senior players to start the year.

Our big off-season signing is, without a doubt, our former captain, and 2-time League1 Ontario Defender of the Year, Amardo Oakley.

He joins a roster that features other core players of previous seasons, like Cole Fernandez, Jack Sears, Gray Yates and Anthony Ostrun, a few call-ups from our 2024 Reserves, as well as a few brand new, exciting signings, including Irish keeper Jack Harrington, English defender Luke Harrop, and French midfielder Lilian Benjamin.

With this roster, our men’s team approaches the League1 Championship Division season with high hopes of finishing in one of the top two spots, which guarantee promotion to the Premier Division, or third place, which will mean a promotion play-off match.

GUFC Women is kicking off the 2025 season with a roster of 17 players, which will be complemented with call-ups from our Reserves, when needed.

Among the 2025 signings, our fans will recognize plenty of familiar names, including 2024 GUFC MVP Olivia Rizakos and 2024 GUFC U21 MVP Haley Ward.

As for new acquisitions, we signed multiple players with fantastic youth and university resumes, including Swiss U19 International keeper Leana Claude, U Sports All Stars Zoë Rowe and Hannah Neville, and NCAA star Emma Warren.

In a recent addition to the squad, we also signed Canadian midfielder Allison Pike, who played college soccer for the Fanshawe Falcons and spent the last few years in Australia. Unfortunately, previously-announced signing Cassidy Joslin will not be able to play for GUFC this summer, due to an injury.

This exciting roster is shaping up to offer plenty of quality soccer this summer at the Bowl, in our attempt to surpass last season’s 6th place in the Premier Division.

For the first time ever, Guelph United is fielding 4 reserve teams this season, up from 3 last year, with the addition of a women’s U20 squad.
