Swiss youth international Leana Claude signs with Guelph United

Our string of foreign signings continues. After we announced English defender Luke Harrop and Irish keeper Jack Harrington, it’s time to head to Switzerland for our next announcement.

We’re happy to reveal we have signed Swiss youth international goalkeeper Leana Claude for the 2025 season.

Claude, 20, has had a remarkable start to her career. She has represented Switzerland at the U16, U17 and U19 levels, and played for one of the biggest clubs in the country, BSC Young Boys Frauen - first at the U19 level (where she won the Swiss title twice), then professionally in the top Swiss league.

She moved to Canada last year to study at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, and is playing for the Sea-Hawks in U Sports, where she continued her impressive streak of performances - becoming an All-Star of the AUS Conference in her first year, and part of the U Sports All-Rookie Team, after posting a remarkable 0.90 Goals Against average for the season.

Excited for this new chapter with Guelph! Looking forward to meeting a great team and seeing what we can achieve together.
