GUFC Men relegates to Championship after dramatic penalty shootout
The inconceivable happened: our men’s team relegated last night to League1 Ontario’s second-tier Championship division, at the end of a tense, exciting match against the St. Catharines Roma Wolves.

Guelph United will head to St. Catharines, on September 11th, for a relegation playoff match against local team St. Catharines Roma Wolves. In an entertaining match yesterday at the Centennial Bowl, our team ended the season with a 3-3 draw against Simcoe County Rovers.
Guelph United lose to Sigma; will play pro/rel match to stay in Premier Division
With only 6 senior players available for selection, and even some reserve players away with their U-Sports teams, Guelph United stood no chance in an away matchup to a Sigma FC team with much fewer roster issues, on Saturday afternoon in Mississauga.
GUFC Men lose against Woodbridge, but stay alive
Guelph United played its best game of the last few weeks, yesterday afternoon against Woodbridge Strikers, but it was still not enough. A 0-1 loss that sees our team stay in 11th place, 4 points below Sigma FC, who fortunately also lost yesterday, 5-2 against the Vaughan Azzurri.
GUFC Women ends season on high note; men lose again
That’s a wrap on our women’s 2024 season, and what an ending it’s been. A 7-1 dismantling of 2023 champions Alliance United, and a 4-match undefeated streak (3 wins and a draw), to finish in 6th place of L1O’s Premier Division - our highest ever ranking (after ending 13th in 2022, and 12th in 2023).
Guelph United Women, one point away from clinching Premier Division status for 2025
Yesterday’s double-header saw both of our teams face the Vaughan Azzurri, at the Centennial Bowl, in a festive atmosphere due to the Guelph Soccer Day event. Our men’s team lost, but our women’s team got to within one point of confirming the survival from relegation.

A win and a loss in an encouraging first weekend
Our Guelph United teams were back in action this weekend. And, despite different results - our men’s team won at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, while the women lost against NDC Ontario - both matches offered plenty of reasons for optimism.
